Public discussion on EIA Report on investment proposal for new overhead power line

On 08 -10th of February, 2017, six meetings were conducted concerning public discussion on EIA Report on investment proposal: “Overhead line (OHL) 400 kV Maritsa East SS (Republic of Bulgaria) to Nea Santa SS (Republic of Greece)”. Contractor of the EIA Report is “P-United”Ltd.
The public discussion was conducted in municipalities of: Kirkovo, Momchilgrad, Kurdzhali, Haskovo, Simeonovgrad and Harmanli.
Representatives of: Contracting Authority – “ESO” S.A., Contractor – “P-United” Ltd., RIEW-Haskovo, representatives of the six municipalities, as well as other interested parties were attending during the meetings.
Mr. Angelin Tsachev - authorized representative of the Contracting Authority presented the objectives and scope of the investment proposal. After that Ms. Elena Georgieva - Head of the team of experts that prepared the EIA Report, incl. Compatibility Assessment on the investment proposal, presented the scope, main findings of the evaluations and measures recommended in the reports.
The attendees to the meetings for public discussion had the opportunity to express their opinions and recommendations as well as to raise their questions about the quality of the reports. All of the answers regarding the issues raised were motivated and completed.
The public discussion completed successfully with high assessment from the attendees for the good performance of the team that prepared the EIA Report incl. Compatibility Assessment.
